Brexit Next Steps

After the Prime Minister’s humiliating defeat on her Brexit plan earlier this month, Parliament is today voting on what the next steps should be. Theresa May has been forced by the Tory Brextremists to try and reopen a deal she has already signed and which the EU has refused further negotiations on. They are demanding changes to the Withdrawal Agreement especially on the Irish backstop. She argued today that she would negotiate further about ‘alternative arrangements’ but declined to tell MPs what they actually were. She has spent 2 years looking for this holy grail and has failed so far because of her continued refusal to relax her own red lines. She is happy to run down the clock while dangerously gambling with the future of the country by refusing to rule out the possibility of crashing out of the EU with a disastrous no deal. I will be voting in favour of reducing the risk of a catastrophic no deal Brexit and to allow Parliament to fill the void of leadership left by the Prime Minister.
