Meaningful Vote

Yesterday, there was an Urgent Question from Tory Remainer Dominic Grieve, in the House of Commons about whether the Government is trying to water down the meaningful vote that Parliament is supposed to get on the final Brexit deal. In extraordinary scenes, the Brexit Secretary, Dominic Raab went back on assurances made by the Prime Minister and appeared to suggest that Parliament would only be given a "take it or leave it" choice rather than the right to amend whatever Theresa May eventually comes back with. In a supreme display of arrogance, it is clear that the Government is now ignoring the sovereignty of Parliament, and instead of giving MPs a meaningful vote, they are trying to bully MPs into accepting a meaningless vote. The Government are breaking their promises, because they are desperate to avoid Parliament having a say.
