Yesterday, the Prime Minister came to the House of Commons to update MPs on the progress, or lack of, in the Brexit negotiations. Once again Theresa May was able to demonstrate her extraordinary can-kicking skills, except this time, she is nearly out of road.

She offered no clarity around the Irish border question or how long the UK will remain in the Customs Union, and failed to gain any support from her own benches, let alone the rest of Parliament. The DUP, who are currently propping up the Government because they don’t have a majority, have refused to support the current proposals, as they do not want Northern Ireland to have different terms from the rest of the UK in order to avoid a hard border on the island of Ireland.

The lack of support on all sides, including in the EU, for any of the Prime Minister’s Brexit ideas means that the negotiations have hit yet another stumbling block, and the prospect of Britain catastrophically leaving with no deal looks increasingly likely.

I asked the Prime Minister what she thought about this, and in typical fashion, she dodged the question, instead choosing to answer with empty words and platitudes.
