Last week, I visited the fantastic Maggie’s Centres at the Clatterbridge Cancer centre. Maggie’s has been open for 5 years, and last year they supported around 16,500 people. Built in the grounds of NHS cancer hospitals, Maggie’s Centres offer support to people with cancer and their family and friends.
Maggie’s centres are working towards a different type of cancer care, by allowing people to be an informed participant in their medical treatment, teaching stress-reducing strategies, offering psychological support and the opportunity to meet other people in similar circumstances in a relaxed atmosphere. You don’t need a referral to access the services
