Dame Angela Eagle MP Standing up for Wallasey
Last Friday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Keir Starmer, the Shadow Brexit Secretary to Wallasey, to talk to members about Brexit.
It was a really well attended event, where we were able to debate Brexit, the Labour Party’s policies on it, and what the next steps should be for the country. There were, obviously, a multitude of different opinions, and people on all sides were passionate about their views. However, it was great to be able to have a lively and engaging debate on these Issues, where both sides listened and respected each other, despite their differences.
The Tories handling of Brexit so far has been shambolic, with the Government trying to stop Parliament from having a say on the final deal and on the progress of the negotiations. It Is vital that we now work together to secure a Brexit that does not threaten jobs, workers’ rights, existing safety regulations and environmental protections that the EU was instrumental in securing.
