Dear Friend,

Please sign our petition to Save Wirral’s NHS.

And get all your friends and family to sign it too.

Together, we can force the Government to think again.

What is Happening

In Merseyside & Cheshire, the local NHS is planning to make savage cuts to deal with nearly one billion pounds – £1,000,000,000 – of underfunding each year.

The plans have been made in secret, with very little consultation with patient groups, the public or elected representatives.

One proposal on the table is to merge Arrowe Park, the Countess of Chester and Clatterbridge and move the merged hospital all the way to Ellesmere Port.

This would end acute provision on the Wirral. For emergency cases, for people with restricted mobility or just those without access to transport, it will cause serious distress and unnecessary complexity for patients.

What We Can Do Immediately

I have launched a petition today to demand that they rule out merging the three hospitals and conduct a full consultation with residents, patient groups, trade unions, doctors and nurses, and elected representatives before making any changes whatsoever.

Yours,

Angela Eagle MP

To Prime Minister Theresa May,

The people of the Wirral have had enough of top-down reorganisations of our local NHS, driven by a cuts agenda that always falls disproportionately on the North and in particular on Merseyside and the Wirral. Your plans to cut up to a billion pounds a year locally will have a huge impact on the Wirral. It will affect patients, particularly those with acute conditions or those with problems with accessibility or transport.

Please stop these plans now and undertake a full consultation with residents, patient groups, local doctors and nurses and trade unions.

And please immediately rule out merging our acute care hospitals, possibly even moving them out of the Wirral altogether.
